In this talk, Barnaby Skinner, head of the data journalism unit at Tamedia, will discuss how coding skills can complement investigative reporting, especially when journalists are reporting on cyber crime. The talk will involve a look into publicly available data, e.g, the leaked collection I-V, a data dump consisting of billions of compromised user accounts, and provide examples of investigative stories driven by analysing such huge data sets.
