Data journalism outlet Civio in Spain does not lobby on every issue it reports on. But if its reporting shows that the government is standing in the way of transparency or accountability, it’s not afraid to follow up on a story and take an advocacy role. Taxwatch in the UK is a think tank on tax avoidance and fraud run by an investigative journalist. Oliver Moldenhauer founded the EU-wide online campaigning organisation WeMove.EU and co-founded Attac in Germany. Can the experience from campaigning be useful for journalists? And do we have different views on the limits of journalism and advocacy in different parts of Europe?
