The void after publication of a big investigation

When a crossborder team finally publishes after a long and often exhausting research with typically long working hours ahead of publication, comes the day after. On that day the individual journalist is suddenly ripped off his or her close international team colleagues of the past weeks and months. Marcos Garcia Rey, investigative editor at El Confidencial in Madrid, Spain, and active member of the ICIJ for years, points out three considerations for “the day after”: journalistic, psychological and legal/defensive. Marcos would like to address this aspect of crossborder collaborative journalism further and develop the tool box for journalists in crossborder teams.
