Launched in September 2018, the first collaborative investigation by the European Data Journalism Network (EDJNet) analysed over 100 million meteorological data points from 117 years of weatherdata for 558 entities in Europe. Several challenges were faced: how to make a global issue local? How to find common entities to assign data to across borders? How to produce content on this scale? Nicolas Kayser Bril and Leonard Wallentin, data analysts and curators of the investigation, will tell how they made it and will show how to use the database created. The impact of making data local was indeed relevant: over 100 outlets across Europe have republished or have adapted the story in 11 languages to date.
