Strength in numbers: setting up an investigative network of local journalists

How do you establish a large network of local investigative reporters, working together across media and across a country in the public interest and using common datasets? The London-based Bureau of Investigative Journalism set out to do so in 2017, when it established the Bureau Local, which today has around 1,000 members spread all over the UK and has published more than 350 stories. Last year, with the help of the Bureau Local, the German non-profit newsroom CORRECTIV followed suit and set up its own network for collaborative local journalism: Correctiv.Lokal. How did they do it? In this session, Megan Lucero, director of the Bureau Local, will share their blueprint to help other newsrooms and organisations set up their own investigative networks. And Justus von Daniels, head of Correctiv.Lokal, will share their own experience. Come and be inspired!
