Unbias the News

We all have our cultural and national bias and blind spots – and are not aware of them. We carry them into cross-border collaborations and into our stories – and run the risk of reproducing the same prejudice over and over again. How can we find a constructive approach to embracing such bias in crossborder collaboration and help each other to 'unbias' our journalism by shedding light on each others' blind spots in the editorial discussion? The panel of speakers are journalists from different backgrounds and have seen first-hand how bias, discrimination and cultural misunderstandings can affect journalism, and some of them have addressed it within larger cross-border collaborative teams. Several of them have contributed to the book 'Unbias the news' to be published by Hostwriter at the Global Investigative Journalism Conference in September 2019.
