Who files for bankryptcy over and over again? Who are the business people earning money from repeated bankruptcies, while ordinary people and the government lose money? Who are the people in quarantine from running any business, who do it anyway? Journalism about bankruptcies is often fragmented and covers individual cases. Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet’s investigative team developed new methods to map individuals’ abuse of the bankruptcy institution using big data and data drive analysis. Analyzing a spreadsheet of 163 000 rows and 33 columns, through queries and FOIA, they documented how business people circumvent the quarantines, and how the state is cheated for billions. Come and learn how you can do the same documentation in your country.
