Local journalism and reporting on issues affecting people at the local level are key for the public to regain trust in the media. However, online news, the explosion of social media and the crisis of the advertising-based traditional news business model meant many local media outlets went bust.
Still, this new media environment also allowed for new kinds of local media to emerge. In this session, we'll be hearing from several such new local media in Europe about their different business models and relationships with their audiences.
Do you want to know more about local media co-ops and local media owned by their audiences? Is multi-city-based reporting the way to go forward? What's the potential of street papers for journalists to connect to their audience?
