Local is the new cool: Showcasing local, independent media outlets

Local journalism and reporting on issues affecting people at the local level are key for the public to regain trust in the media. In this session, at a time when many local media have been struggling to adapt to the spread of online news and social media, we'll be hearing from different types of local media outlets successfully carrying out independent and investigative journalism in Europe: the Bristol Cable, Mediacités, Marsactu and Piazza Grande. How are these local media's newsrooms? How do they work in today's complicated communicative environment? What kind of stories do their journalists report on?
